Miracle Mornings: a guide to starting your day right

Do you ever feel like you're behind from the moment you open your eyes? It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and drained before the day has even begun. However, there's a powerful practice that can transform your mornings from chaotic to miraculous: the Miracle Morning routine.

So what is a Miracle Morning?

Surprisingly it doesn’t consist of waking up at leisure with breakfast in bed, a Miracle Morning is actually a structured morning routine designed to kickstart your day with intention, positivity, and productivity. Developed by Hal Elrod, the Miracle Morning consists of six key practices, often referred to as the Life S.A.V.E.R.S.:

  1. Silence: Meditation, mindfulness, or deep breathing exercises.

  2. Affirmations: Positive statements to reinforce beliefs and goals.

  3. Visualisation: Mental imagery of desired outcomes and success.

  4. Exercise: Physical activity to energise the body and mind.

  5. Reading: Personal development or inspirational reading.

  6. Scribing: Journaling or writing to reflect and plan your day.

Tailoring your Miracle Morning:

The beauty of the Miracle Morning routine lies in its flexibility and adaptability to individual preferences and lifestyles. You can tailor your Miracle Morning to suit your specific needs and goals by customising each component of the routine:

  • Choose meditation, prayer, or deep breathing for your Silence practice.

  • Create personalised affirmations that resonate with your beliefs and aspirations.

  • Visualise your ideal day, future goals, or desired outcomes during the Visualisation phase.

  • Select exercises that energise and invigorate you, whether it's yoga, jogging, or a morning walk.

  • Read books or articles that inspire and motivate you toward personal growth and success.

  • Use journaling prompts or reflective writing to set intentions, express gratitude, and plan your day ahead.

Benefits of a Miracle Morning:

Embracing a Miracle Morning routine offers a multitude of benefits for both mind and body, including increased productivity and focus throughout the day, reduced stress and anxiety levels, greater clarity and purpose in setting and achieving goals, improved physical health and vitality, enhanced mental wellbeing and resilience and a heightened sense of gratitude and fulfilment in life.

Getting started is easier than you think:

Embarking on your own Miracle Morning journey is simpler than you might think. Here are some practical steps to help you get started:

  1. Set your alarm 30 minutes earlier than usual to carve out dedicated time for your Miracle Morning.

  2. Create a personalised routine by selecting activities that resonate with you and align with your goals.

  3. Start small and gradually build momentum over time. Remember, consistency is key to reaping the full benefits of the Miracle Morning routine.

  4. Experiment with different practices and techniques to find what works best for you.

  5. Stay committed and hold yourself accountable by tracking your progress and celebrating small victories along the way.

Why should I even consider implementing a Miracle Morning?

We all know it's far too easy to prioritise the needs of others ahead of our own, neglecting our wellbeing in the process. Incorporating a Miracle Morning routine provides a vital opportunity to reclaim time for ourselves and set the tone for the day ahead. By dedicating the early hours of the morning to self-care and personal growth, we signal to ourselves and the universe that our wellbeing is a priority. Taking this time to focus on ourselves allows us to recharge our batteries, nurture our minds and bodies and cultivate a sense of inner peace and balance. By investing in ourselves first thing in the morning, we set a powerful precedent for the rest of the day, ensuring that we show up as our best selves in all aspects of our lives.

So why not set your alarm a little earlier tomorrow and embark on your own Miracle Morning journey? Your future self will thank you for it.
